What is bruxism?

Bruxism is a behavior characterized by grinding or clenching of the teeth, often unconsciously, most often during sleep. Bruxism can cause a variety of problems, including tooth wear, jaw pain, headaches, neck and muscle pain, and sleep disturbances.

There are two main types of bruxism:

• Sleep bruxism: This is the most common. This type of bruxism occurs during sleep and is often associated with other sleep disorders such as sleep apnea.

• Awake bruxism: This type of bruxism occurs while you're awake. It is often linked to anxiety, stress, intense concentration or certain habits.

Composition and use of Sanabrux dental splints

The Sanabrux anti-bruxism mouthpiece set consists of :

• A flexible thermo-formable dental splint for the upper jaw.
• An impression plate.
• Float thermometer for thermoforming.
• Ventilated storage box for the tray.
• Instructions for use (must be read before use)

Before you start using this product, it's essential that you read the enclosed instructions carefully. Be sure to follow all instructions and recommendations.

• Place the temperature indicator in a pan of water and heat until the indicator turns red. Immerse the gutter in hot water for 3 minutes.

• In front of a mirror, remove the tray with a spoon, shake off the water, align it with your upper incisors and adjust its width to your jaw.

• Hold the tray in your mouth, insert the impression plate, bite down hard and press the tray for a perfect cast. Rinse with cold water and leave to cool for 2 minutes.

• Place the mouthpiece in your mouth before going to sleep or in case of stress.

Contraindications :

Sanabrux mouthpieces should not be used in the following cases:

• Severe periodontal disease.
  
• Fewer than 8 teeth on the dental arch.
  
• Unstable dentition.
  
• Users under 18 years of age.

Maintenance of Sanabrux bruxism mouthpieces

When you wake up in the morning, remove the mouthpiece, rinse it and leave it to soak all day in a container of warm water with a tablet of antibacterial denture cleaner. Before putting it back in the mouth overnight, be sure to rinse it with clear water. The longevity of the brace depends on its care, oral acidity and the intensity of bruxism (teeth grinding)
